GET ON BOARD

Take Part in Something Great

Background

Meet Aurang Zeb

Aurang Zeb, a Pakistani immigrant who moved to Lincoln in 2003, flips houses and runs a painting company. He ran unsuccessfully for a seat on the Lincoln Airport Authority board in 2019.

Aurang Zeb thinks Lincoln is a great place to live for so many people, but we still face many challenges. He wants to be a voice for those facing the toughest of those challenges.

In an interview with 1011now, Aurang Zeb said "Once elected, I will be a champion for affordable housing, local businesses, strong healthcare and adequately funded infrastructure, especially roads."

He further told "I think the city needs to slow down its efforts to aggressively match local market values. Our property taxes are skyrocketing, and it’s becoming difficult for new homeowners and renters to get a foothold in our community. In the long term, that will lead to fewer residents and less property taxes being paid."

HIS GOALS

1. Improve Public Safety: Develop strategies to reduce crime rates, enhance community policing, and ensure that emergency services are efficiently staffed and well-equipped.

2. Promote Economic Growth: Support local businesses, attract new industries, and ensure that Lincoln City’s economy thrives with sustainable jobs, affordable housing, and support for small businesses.

3. Enhance Infrastructure: Focus on improving roads, bridges, public transportation, and broadband connectivity to ensure that Lincoln City remains accessible, efficient, and modern.

4. Environmental Sustainability: Create policies that promote clean energy initiatives, reduce waste, and protect natural resources, including the parks.

5. Increase Public Engagement: Foster open communication between the city government and residents, ensuring that all voices are heard and that residents feel informed and involved in the decision-making process.

6. Affordable Housing and Homelessness: Address the housing crisis by increasing affordable housing opportunities and developing solutions for homelessness through supportive services and partnerships with local organizations.

7. Improve Education and Youth Programs: Strengthen local schools, support extracurricular activities for youth, and invest in early education programs to ensure every child has access to quality education.

8. Promote Health and Wellness: Work to ensure better access to healthcare services, promote mental health awareness, and improve recreational facilities for all residents.
